Sequinpark - one of the first health cubs to run yoga classes, we now have some of the best teachers with classes every day offering Hatha, Ashtanga, Dynamic and Restorative Yoga.
Debbie Blunden
I have been teaching at Sequinpark since I qualified six years ago. I trained in India with Phatabhi Jois Nephew, Master Viswanath. Since then I continue to learn and develop and train with teachers such as John Scott, David Swenson and Lino Miele. All my classes here are Ashtanga and based on the fluidity of movement combined with ujjayi breathing and bandhas. Ashtanga is a very dynamic form of yoga which helps to build strength, stamina and flexibility. At Sequinpark I run three classes . One is a beginners - a great introduction to the core elements of Astanga, simplifying breath and movement synchronicity. Tuesday is a general class, a little stronger with partner work and focusing on particular postures spending longer time, understanding and exploring. The third class is advanced (Sunday) for those who have more experience and understanding and is taught in a much more traditional way in a consistent fluid momentum.
Debbie teaches Tuesday Ashtanga 7.30 - 9pm; Thursday Dynamic Yoga 7.30 - 9pm Sunday Ashtanga 11am - 12.30pm;
Sunday Beginners & Back to Basics 12.30 - 1.30pm
George Lane
George draws on the knowledge and experience he has gained through his practice of Yoga, therapeutic counselling and other mind and body disciplines to provide an individually focused approach to his teaching of Yoga. His background in a number of Yoga traditions including Kundalini, Shadow and Ashtanga Vinyasa as well as Tai-chi, Qigong, Shorinji Kempo and Karate has led him to place importance on the physical rigor involved in the practice of Yoga, combined with the contemplative balance that guided meditation brings, as part of a fully integrated practice.
George will be running regular workshops at Sequinpark. The next one is on Sunday 27th June.
Jocelyn Mandelstam
Originally from a background of dance and figure-skating, Jocelynne began teaching bodywork in 1990 as an aerobics and fitness instructor. By 1999 she had made the transition to teaching only Yoga and Pilates. She favours a flowing dynamic style of Yoga, but ensuring enough time is spent in each pose to enable the feeling of connection between the mind and body. She has a keen interest in various alternative therapies, practises Yoga Therapy, and is qualified in Herbalism and Flower Remedies. She does one to one work with osteopathy referrals, and loves teaching general classes and beginners.
She teaches a beautiful combination class of Yoga & Pilates ‘Yolates’ Fridays 5.30 - 6.30pm; Saturday Pilates 3 - 4pm
Adele Craciun
Adèle Craciun is a CYQ Level 3 qualified
yoga instructor. She first came into contact with yoga in 1999 and found it
helped her to combat stress. She has been practicing ever since, moving into
teaching yoga in 2007. Adèle is Hatha trained but, as she is constantly seeking
inspiration from other instructors and yoga styles, her teaching can incorporate
anything from the calming gentleness of Yin Yoga, the fluid vinyasa and power of
Ashtanga to the focus on alignment of the Iyengar tradition. Therefore, her
classes will vary in style, level and content to suit the time of day and the
individual needs of the participants.
Adèle believes in teaching inclusive classes
and puts emphasis on getting each student to take responsibility for their own
practice and work at a level that suits their body. She likes to teach both beginner and advanced
asana variations throughout a session in order to keep everyone engaged. She
believes that yoga should be a fun challenge for both body and mind, improving
flexibility and strength as well as calming the mind.
Adèle is a part-time film journalist and is
currently also training to become a Pilates instructor
Adele teaches Restorative Yoga every Wednesday 8.15 - 9.15pm.

Explaining
Pilates For flat tummys, strong back, release of tension from shoulders and neck, body alignment, injury prevention, and toned muscles. Pilates is a body
awareness exercise method. Limbs are moved through long-range motions fluidly
while maintaining a strong stable centre. Movement is controlled, precise and
related to the breath. Posture and alignment are improved. Pilates gives
strength with flexibility. The result is a long lean dancers look. It improves
muscle control, flexibility, strength, tone and coordination. The essence of a
Matwork class is core control, which results from strengthening the deep
abdominal and back muscles. Back and neck pain become history and proper
alignment and graceful posture your natural assets. Pilates Matwork is a series
of interconnected movement, each with a purpose and breathing pattern; it
integrates mind and body resulting in increased energy and relaxation. Muscles
are used deeply without stress and tension.
Who Are These Classes
For You! Anyone regardless of age or fitness level can enjoy the
benefits of Pilates Matwork. Many people discover Pilates because it is
recommended for those with injuries, ‘bad backs’ and alignment problems. Once
discovered, this method can become an addiction and be practiced as a general
fitness programme. For addicts, simple exercise can become very complex
routines. Excellent results when combined with your other exercises, either gym
or classes.
All
YOGA
& PILATES classes are included in Club
membership making it exceptional value. But for many of you who
can't attend regularly these classes are available on a per class
basis.
